In addition to attending and participating in music festivals as a scholarship recipient, he was also selected as one of Lang Lang’s 101 Pianists in 2014. Currently in his sixth year, Ryan has been awarded a scholarship each year to attend the school’s all day Saturday program where he takes the pre-college courses focusing on music theory, ear training, performance, master classes as well as playing in a chamber ensemble group. In addition, he also plays in the high school’s musicals as part of their pit orchestra and jazz band. He is a current and active member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and is on the Honor Roll at the high school. Soeyadi has been the high school’s accompanist since 9 th grade. He accompanies the concert, treble and symphonic choirs for all winter and spring concerts. Soeyadi was featured alongside 11 of the best piano students from the state of New York in a showcase performance on December 4 at the Rochester Convention Center. This year, he received a 100 on his Level 6 piano NYSSMA, and was recommended to audition for the New York State Piano Showcase.
Last summer, he participated in the LIU Post Music Festival. There were 113 applicants and only 12 were chosen for this prestigious honor. James did Level 6 NYSSMA both this year and last year, and received scores of 96 and 100, respectively. Soeyadi was chosen to perform in the Tenth Annual NYSSMA Piano Showcase during last month’s All-State Conference in Rochester.
